The metal horns are nothing new to this scene. A sign of rocking the hell out, of belonging, of simultaneous rage and love between fans and bands across the genre.
The Purple Horns Award recognizes the impact these individuals have had on the music community. They bring make this world a little smaller, and exponentially brighter, bringing together bands and fans in new and inspiring ways.
Missy Wood: For your work in Creative Music Management, bringing together some of the biggest local and regional talent in the Carolinas, you’ve created an environment that challenges the industry standards and setting the bar for respect, humility, and support across bands and genres. Hosting the Very Metal Christmas at The Rooster is a prime example of what you’re doing within the community, raising and donating over $4,000 in toys to the Hope United Survivor Network in Gastonia, NC.
Tim Schaefer: As a staple in the Pit Crew community, you wear the badge proudly, representing ICoN in all its glory. I Cower over Nothing. You have cultivated a family, showing others what unconditional love really means. You welcome everyone with open arms and a smile on your face, ready to ensure everyone has the time of their lives in as rowdy yet safe way possible.
Dustin Noell: Watching what you offer from your spot in the Midwest is inspiring. Ghost Media Entertainment clearly reflects your love and passion for the entire music community at large, constantly supporting local and regional talent, trying new ideas, and bringing the world together one amazing blegh at a time. You make music more human, connecting fans and bands everywhere. The joy you bring, with your inspiring interview style (and that of your family), will carry something truly epic into 2023 and beyond.
Missy, Tim, and Dustin, thank you for what you do each and every day. In what may feel like a dark, relentless world, you are shining an incredible light, and we appreciate you.
